A year after my alternator went out and was replaced with a re-manufactured one, it went out again. On further inspection, Cedar Falls Automotive found that there was a small oil leak from the engine that was causing the alternators to fail. They completed the engine oil leak repair at a reasonable cost and then were able to refund the re-manufactured alternator cost that helped offset some this new repair cost. The car has been running well in 2 years since the repair.

Had my truck serviced by 5 mechanics who gave strange reasons for the Check Engine light being on, and none of them turned it off. My infant daughter and I were driving over the mountains for a weekend trip when I started having a little car trouble. They were the closest shop to where I was so I gave them a call, explained my situation and they had me come right over so they could check it out for me. I could not imagine how kind and hospitable they were to my daughter and I. He explained to me exactly what had caused the issue, fixed my problem and gave his professional advice on whether or not I should continue my trip. I started smelling a "hot" smell on a Friday afternoon, and Michelle had me drop off the car that evening. It ended up being a seized caliper. They ordered parts and had my car ready to go by mid-day on Monday. Amazing service! They were great all around! From the call at 4:45 PM with a mechanical emergency to getting it fixed the very next morning. They helped set up a tow (which was a different company and equally amazing,) they let me get right in to see the problems for myself and explained the plan. He's a retired Honda-Trained Technician, so I feel even better leaving my Civic in their hands.

This shop is very thorough but doesn't add unnecessary work. They explain everything that needs to be done and tell you why, and they don't do anything without the customer's approval. All that is important to me, but the work itself is more important. So far, everything seems perfect.

We had a wheel bearing failure while traveling on a rainy Saturday evening on a long weekend, the tow truck driver took us to cedar falls and we were back on the road the next day. Hassle free doesn't do the service we received justice, most of the time you can't get service like this with a reservation! Can't say thank you enough times.

The experience I had with Cedar Falls Automotive was exceptional. I feel that they went out of there way to help me in a professional and extremely kind way. I have taken my car there twice, the first time I thought that I had a potential radiator problem and they pressured tested my radiator and found that the system was sound and only charged me for the half hour they spent working on my vehicle. The second time my check engine light came on and they took my car in on a Saturday and had the issue resolved and my car ready on Sunday for pick up because they knew I had work on Monday. I can't say that I have ever had a better customer experience than at Cedar Falls Automotive they are top notch in both quality of work and customer service.

Check for vacuum leaks by adding a fuel source to the intake tubes to see if the idle improves.

Do you have any codes? See if you have either code 51 or 11. 51 is for an injector circuit, and 11 is for distributor sensors. Also check all of your grounds.

Don't overlook the obvious, as in plugs (NGKs), wires, cap & rotor.
Make sure your gear shift is in the "P" position, and also examine your key to see if the teeth are worn down. Extremely worn out keys will not activate the tumblers properly in the ignition switch. If these two items check out, you may have an issue within the ignition switch assembly itself, for which your mechanic can determine a repair plan.

There is more than one oxygen sensor in your car's emissions & exhaust system. Be sure to check with your mechanic which position was replaced last year, and which one is reading as failed now. Some vehicles can have anywhere from 2 to 4 oxygen sensors.
