Car won't start

(1990 Mercedes-Benz 300E)
in Alexandria, VA on January 07, 2010
my friend adjusted the allen screw in the tube beside the fuel distributor, and now his car wont start. What is this tube called and IS that really the problem? the battery is good, and we have spark to the plugs. We removed ther plugs and he wanted to crank the engine to dry out the plugs. As he cranked, ALOT of fuel shot out the plug holes. Is this normal ???? Lots of help needed and appreciated,
Thanks,
John

your friend have opend too much fluid by turning thr screw clock wise . open all plugstill gas dryout in the cylinders. replace clean plugs, adjust the alien screw by turning anticlockwise till airflow flap show one forth of a millimeter space on the edge so that when you start it gives a sound of air suction. Try to start , if not keep turning little by little till it does then adjust the screw till suction sound finish, then adjust screw till engine is stable at minimum rpm ( about 1000-1200) or littl e more.

Your friend adjusted the Fuel Injection and now it is out of spec. It needs to be re-set. Can your friend remember what direction he turned the allen screw and then reverse what he did?

Thanks for your input. Yes he remembers and we tried to readjust it, but the screw just seems to turn freely inside the tube. we tried just a few turns with no luck, then about 10 turns. Should there be some resistance, as if closing it off completely?
Thanks again.
