Car will not go into gear - automatic trans

(1999 Ford Mustang)

the car is a 1999 ford mustang that had been sitting for over a month it is drawing power from somewhere - not sure of where that is yet but charged the battery and started the car and it would not go into gear after i moved the shifter into drive and even reverse. do not have codes yet but do have the car dr code reader but have never used it yet. please help !

check he fluid first. if it is ok, then you may have internal issues that you may have to have a trans shop help you.
your code reader will not give you trans codes, even if it did, it does not tell you anything but a direction to go to do a proper diag.
