Q: Can the wear sensor brakes be replaced? Pads look good but screeching noise!! on 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Anytime the vehicle is in motion, whether you are using the brakes or not. A mechanic looked at the brakes and advised that the pads looked good.

The pads may be sufficiently thick but it may be a brake rotor surface finish or the brake pad material quality that is causing the noise. What was your mechanics thoughts on what is causing the noise.
Honestly, not a lot. He did find a rotor dust cover was bent and scraping so he straightened it out and thought that would fix it. What I have read so far is that there is a wear sensor on vehicles that will make that horrible screeching sound to alert you there is an issue with the brakes...could it be the sensor?
