Can the damaged plug on my block be replaced with a ordinary plug

(2011 Chevrolet Impala)

will a plug comparable to the old one but not one that starts only at a certain temp damage the car computer?

Unless things are different in the north, usually the block heater is an add on feature, and not aware of any computer monitoring of the block heater. Should be a stand alone just to keep the block warm or is temperature controlled internal of the block heater itself.
