Can I remove brake resevoir without removing entire cylinder?

(1990 Toyota Tercel)
in Silver Spring, MD on February 04, 2011
I have a 1983 Tercel. I feel wetness with fluid at base of brake reservoir. I now have to top it off about every four days. How can I just replace the reservoir? What happens if I loosen the stop screw? Will I have to bleed it?

You have a bad master cylinder.

I don't think so. There is probably nothing more than a hair-line crack in the reservoir. I looked again at my manual. It says there's one screw holding the reservoir in place. I hope I'm correct. Trying to purchase just the reservoir. If you know of a place that can supply this do let me know. Thank you for your trouble. George
