An external bolt-on pump will not pull fuel through the in-tank pump anyway...so you might as well install the correct part!!..

Have you done any testing to be sure the pump is at fault??
Like maybe check for a tripped inertia switch?.. Black 12 ga ground wire connections at battery negative cable/terminal??.. Fuel pump relay??? .. Maybe you don't need a pump!

there are several different fuel pumps for your truck.it depends on the tank size, steel or plastic tank, front or rear tank.these are sometimes tricky,i have seen people go back and forth a few times to parts store to get the correct pump.if you are tight on $$$$,just run off of one fuel pump, you have two,one in each tank.if you find out the correct application for the pump you need and absolutely sure of the one you need, you can order one from e-bay.they are all aftermarket anyway at the parts places and e-bay example:E2059MN at local parts place $130.00 plus tax.e-bay E2059MN $29.99 or best offer,no tax, free shipping.HUGE mark up at any parts place!

Anytime you mix fuel and electricity, we never recommend universal fuel pumps. Because you have to cut and splice wires and it may or may not be the proper fuel psi for your vehicle there can be issues. If you have to you have to, but I would recommend trying to find an aftermarket direct fit fuel pump assembly. Do your research and try to find a deal.. you definitely get what you pay for in this type of repair. Good luck!
