Why the second half of a brake pad will wear away more quickly than the first? Isn't it the same material? Thank you for your answer.

Most brake cailpers push from only one side. The brake fluid forces the pistion on one side of the caliper which moves the brake pad. When the brake pad on the pistion side begins to put pressure on the brake rotor the metal part of the cailper should pull the pad on the other side into the rotor. If the brake caliper is binding or not sliding correctly one brake pad will wear out first.
