Brakes have a leak what could have broken? would the whole system need repair?.

Snow & ice might have cause a leak in the brake fluid. brakes were good prior to this. Would I have to replace the
whole system?

not uncommon for the lines in the rear to rot out and leak. get it checked by a shop for a bid. do it asap as your brakes are important to your driving.
