(bmw) is recalling certain model year 2015 bmw x3 sdrive28i, x3 xdrive28i, x3 xdrive35i, x3 xdrive28d, x4 xdrive28i and x4 xdrive35i vehicles, and model year 2014-2015 x5 xdrive35i, x5 sdrive35i, x5 xdrive50i, and 2014 x5 xdrive35d vehicles. the affected vehicles have a driver's frontal air bag inflator that may have been improperly welded.

The driver's frontal air bag inflator may not be welded properly and may separate when the air bag deploys in an accident. This would cause metal to strike vehicle occupants, possibly resulting in serious injury or death.

Recall repairs on your BMW must be performed by a BMW dealership. BMW will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2016. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
