On June 14, 2017, BMW recalled 92 BMW 740i. Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain 2013-2015 740i, 740li, 740lxi, 750i, 750xi, 750li and 750lxi and 2014 activehybrid 7 vehicles. the affected vehicles may have received incorrect replacement left rear taillight assemblies. as such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

The left rear tail light assembly as installed on the vehicle may be incorrect. This could cause the left rear lamp to be less noticeable to other drivers, possibly resulting in an accident.

Recall repairs on your BMW must be performed by a BMW dealership. BMW will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in August, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW dealerships. The doors of the vehicle which feature Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic options may fail to latch properly, seeming to be closed when they are still open. This would allow the door to open unexpectedly while driving and could result in occupant ejection or injury.

The passenger frontal air bag assembly is deployed by an inflator which contains propellant that makes the air bag deploy. The air bag inflator may not vent properly in the event of a crash that results in deployment of the air bag. As a result, the inflator may rupture on deployment, which can send metal shrapnel through the air bag, striking vehicle occupants. This could result in serious injury or death.
