Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain 2011-2012 bmw 550i, 550i xdrive, 550i gran turismo, 550i gran turismo xdrive, 750i, 750li, 750i xdrive, 750li xdrive, 760li, x5 xdrive50i, x5 m, x6 xdrive50i, x6 m, activehybrid7, mini cooper s convertible, john cooper works (jcw) convertible, cooper s countryman, cooper s countryman all4, cooper s, jcw, cooper s clubman, jcw clubman, cooper s roadster, jcw roadster, cooper s coupe, jcw coupe and rolls-royce ghost, 2011 bmw x6 hybrid and 2012 bmw 650i coupe, 650i xdrive coupe, 650i convertible and 650i xdrive convertible vehicles. the electric auxiliary water pump may fail and cause the circuit board to overheat.

The electric auxiliary water pump for the engine may fail, causing the circuit board of the pump to overheat. This could result in a fire.

Recall repairs on your BMW or Mini vehicle must be performed by a BMW or Mini dealership, respectively. BMW and Mini will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2018. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW or Mini dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. As a note, BMW recommends that vehicle owners park their vehicle outdoors until the recall repairs have been completed.

Vehicles equipped with an 8 or 12 cylinder engine are being recalled because the circuit board for the electric water pump can overheat. This could lead to a fire.

BMW will notify owners of affected vehicles during April, 2012. There may be no symptoms related to this recall, or you may notice a burning smell from under the hood. If you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
