RepairPal Expert Overview on September 28, 2017

The passenger frontal air bag may not function as needed in an accident due to deterioration of the passenger seat occupant detection mat. This mat determines if a passenger is sitting in the front seat, and if so, if it is an adult passenger. If the mat is deteriorated, it may not accurately enable the air bag to protect the occupant. This would increase risk of injury in a crash.

Recall repairs on your BMW must be performed by a BMW dealership. BMW will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle.
