My trunk lid won't shut and don't want to spend the money to replace the automatic part. Is there a way to make the trunk a non-automatic and open the trunk with a key?

I've experienced the same problem, TODAY!! My car had not been driven for about 2 weeks. IT started fine, I opened the trunk, but it will not automatically pull it closed after the initial latching. WHat do I do to close it all the way? HELP PLEASE!!
I don't have a real good answer for you but that has happened to me. I would drive it for a few days and darned if I didn't find the lid closed all the way.
Then I had someone disconnect the automatic mechanism but now it won't shut manually. I have people all thet time telling me my trunk is open.
I'm having the same problem. Could you clarify what you mean when you said the trunk won't shut manually? I don't want automatic anything. I just want the trunk to shut when I close it manually. I'm also going to try to disconnect the automatic mechanism, but from what you've state, it sounds like that won't resolve the issue. Advice is appreciated.
i had the same problem a year ago... dissconnect the power plug for the mechanism.. you will have to fiddle with it to get it to latch closed at the right hight..then just close the trunk..
