Q: auto tranny shifts hard on 1996 Ford Taurus

had new front pump and seal installed,new filter and new fluid
now tranny shifts hard each time it shifts.. Does this model have a vacuum line or modulator valve or does this one have a electrical hook up that also goes thru the compiter on this car.????

No vacuum line or vacuum modulator. This one is all electronic.

You did not mention what happened leading up to replacing the front pump and seal. I'm betting there was an overheating situation in the transmission that caused fluid to come out the front pump seal.

Whatever the cause of the original failure was, there probably was debris introduced into the transmission valve body at some point, causing sticking or solenoid control issues. You probably will require an overhaul in the end.

First things first -- see if there are any failure codes in the system. Perform an electronic transmission diagnosis. You can watch pressures and shift commands using a proper diagnostic tool.
