The transmission stopped working without any warning and i seen a lot of people with my type of vehicle had bad transmissions therefore, how does an automaker determine if there is a recall.

I have a 2003 Ford Windstar Van. I bought it from auto auction in 2010. Since then I have had to replace entire A/C system, front suspension, and transmission. The mileage when bought was about 76,000 miles. Total repairs were in excess of $6,000. I recently took it into local transmission shop because the overdrive warning light came on with hiway driving. They found alot of metal debri in transmission pan. Now want to rebuild transmission again after 30,000 miles and three years. The warranty was only for 1 year or 7,000 miles.
Why is there no recall on this van? I suggest that we contact all complaints to lobby for class action suit!!
