ARE THERE ANY FIXES FOR INTERMITTENT STARTING SUCH AS FUEL PUMP?

TRUCK WILL CRANK BUT NOT START--PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT ACCORDING TO MECHANIC--WILL START A FEW TIMES, AND THEN WILL ONLY CRANK WITH NO START AFTER IT SITS FOR A DAY OR SO--DOES FUEL PUMP IN GAS TANK NEED REPLACEMENT?? MECHANIC SAYS IT IS "HOOKED UP" TO DETECT PROBLEM IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN.

Really need to scan the computer for codes, first and foremost, you may have a defective fuel pump relay or engine computer relay.
Also, have a fuel pressure gauge on the vehicle while it is running and then watch the gauge after you shut off the vehicle, this is to make sure that the rest pressure is holding, if the pressure bleeds down to zero in a few minutes, then that is also a problem, with your fuel pump, i.e the internal check valve is defective, but the truck should start after 45 -60 seconds if it is a check valve problem.
