Alternator removal

(1999 Mercury Cougar)
What would be the best way to remove and replace the alternator in this car because its on the bottom not the top. Thank you

This job is not an easy job for even a technician in a fully equipped repair shop. It's a tight fit and a tough access. If I remember correctly, you'll go through the wheel well to get to it after doing the rest of the work from the top. Good luck.

If cannot remove from top then will need to elevate the front end, set on jack stands for safety, may have to remove lower cover for access and then should come out. If remove from top or bottom may need to remove other component for access. Try this link:
