Alarm keeps going off.

(2001 Mercedes-Benz SLK320)
in Portland, OR on August 23, 2009
I park my car and locked the doors and after about 5 minutes the alarm goes off. I decided to not lock the doors but the car doors lock themselves now. A few minutes later, alarm goes off. What is going on?

Hi,
Did you figure out what was causing the alarm to go off by itself?
Thank you!

This happened to me. Found out that computer unit in truck became wet from a spilled liquid causing the terminals in there to corrode. I took the unit out, dried it out, sealed it very well after cleaning as best I could the pin terminals. Only one connector was corroded but it was a lot of corrosion. Read somewhere that this happens as a result of the drains clogging with leaves and dirt. At any rate, this cleared the alarm and some other stuff like the passenger door lock began to work again. Go figure. Very fragile unit in truck where a good chance of moisture can occur. Not very good design in my opinion. I saved about 500 or so by going through everything and a lot of internet research. The fix was fairly easy.
