Accelerator Position Switch May Fail and Cause Sluggish Acceleration on Kia Amanti

I reported the problem to kia corporation. And I reported it to my insurance company, state farm.

Acceleration only works in neutral. When you put in gear, the car just sits there as though it was in neutral. Sometimes if you pump the pedal it will slowly grab and accelerate.
Appears to be the Acceleration Position Switch. Autozone Pt #TPS4161.
I will get it replaced tomorrow and see if that takes care of it.

We bough the 2006 amanti new, a short time later when accelerating the car failed to respond, applying more pressure to the accelerator the car shot out like a race car. This has happened numerous times, sometimes nearly causing a accident. I called kia and was told they had never heard of this problem before. I took it to Kia repairman, he called a kia rep. The rep had them clean the lubricant from the accelerator system. I am unaware if they did anything else to the vehicle. Whatever they did worked for awhile, now it's starting again. I am heading back to the repairman today.

everything is fine and then it starts bucking and slows down to 2000 rpm .Turn it off ...start runs rough ..keeps dying .Let it set then some times it will run slow until your off interstate.turn off let set for 30 minutes startd again them ran alright.Never know when it is going to happen.Had it to mechanic He doesnt know why it is happening after replacing engine acc. control module......300.00 dollars. Same problem. Car will periodically fail to accelerate with pedal nearly touching the floor.

Same problem as everyone else. Replaced throttle position sensor problem still persists.

Same problem as discussed, almost since I bought the car new. Once or twice a year it seemed as if the car would not shift into gear to move forward. Took it out of gear and back in, normally would correct within a minute or so. Check engine light has been going on and off for over 2 years now. Dealership said it was the gas cap. I take it off and put it back on, light goes off within a couple days. I have experienced sudden RPM surges after stopping this past month, mileage around 85k on the car.

The sluggish acceleration in my Amanti 2006 has occurred since I own the car, which I purchased with 12k miles on it. At times, not predictably, the car fails to accelerate when pressing the gas pedal, then it suddenly takes off with jerk. Cannot reproduce at the dealership and they do not admit of ever hearing of such an issue.

Slow to accelerate. Happens intermittently, but has done this quite a few times.

I have not yet taken it into the dealer, because there are other problems with my Amanti. Such as Air Bag light is on (have not been in accident). Whistling noise/sound coming from (sound like) under the engine and louder on the passenger side.

My car only has 53,700 miles on it and I am the original owner..... not sure what to do because when I take it into the dealer for regular oil changes they can't even fix the dang head lights! I have had it in for the headlights several times.

my wife car the rpm hand rises up then down some time. won't accelerate properly.

When starting up from a light I pressed the pedal and nothing happened. Then, all of a sudden, it peeled out, squeeling the tires. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

The dealer had the mechanic clean the switch contacts and it seems to have fixed the problem, for now.

Engine seems to hang in shifting at 2000rpm (40 mph) and also at 60 miles per. converters have been replaced and one ignition coil cyliner 4.

It happened only once about week ago. I tried to start car and it started but ran rough and engine died often. Then restarted engine and would not accelerate. All of a sudden the problem corrected itself. The engine started normally, but the engine light was on. Took the car to a shop and was told that there no problem now but there was reading in the computer that indicated a problem had occurred.

intermediate-- slow to accelerate. Acts like it stuck in slow.
