Hello,
There are a lot of causes for this issue, and it may even be normal cycling of the system.
When you say it comes on and off, do you mean the vents blow air on and off, the A/C gets cool on and off, or that you hear it come on and shut off though the air stays cold?

The ac kicks on and blows cold air after a while I drive it just turned off nd it don't turn on anymore

Ok, which part of the system is turning off? Is the air from the vents stopping, or does the cold air stop?
I need a better description to help you out.

What is the model trim and engine size? Does the HVAC control module have an automatic function or is it all manual dials you set?
My money would be on the blower motor controller, but further testing would be needed. It is basically a transistor that turns on and off very quickly to vary the speed of the blower motor and is the most likely to fail.

It's a manual hvaca control with the nobs so you think I should change that

How are your troubleshooting abilities with a multimeter? The manual controls one on rockauto.com made by Wells is $10. If you want to troubleshoot it properly, I can tell you what wire does what on the connector.
