ABS light is on and after five years car pulsates when brakes applied.

(2000 Buick Century)
Could this suddenly be caused by ABS system or is it something else? Happens in open road driving, not in town. Mechanic had told me can drive car o.k. without ABS

Have the abs scanned to find that problem! Have the brake rotor runout checked for warpage causing pulsation! Do you hear an abs growl when braking?

there isn't any growl when braking. front end of car on driver's side vibrates. no pulsing in brake pedal

Your posted question states "car pulsates when brakes applied" i did not imply the pedal WAS pulsing!!

thanks. I'll have the rotors and wheel sensors checked and get the ABS scanned

Just the scan will test the abs componets, inclu wheel speed sensors...then have runout checked. That should find this trouble. Let us and other readers know the outcome.

I had to get new rotors and pads on the front end. Runs nice and smooth now. Thanks for everyone's help

ONLY drivers side? It'll probably go another 5 years.

Probably a bad wheel speed sensor, check out each of your bearings to see which one is bad, usually have to buy a whole new bearing with the speed sensor included as they typically don't fit unless made for each other.
