Q: 93940 on 1990 Chrysler LeBaron

Rookie cbe0621eac06868b3efe0d8d1d3611e23c60d3114864ea2ec19a68cfbd3eebab
I have a 1990 Chrysler Lebaron Conv. I am unable to open the trunk. The key turns in the lock, but the lock will not allow the trunk to open. By the way, the interior trunk lid release is in the disengage mode, so that option is of no use in trying to open the trunk. I need to open the trunk and get inside. How does one get into the trunk? Is there an easy way?

Sounds like the release rod disengaged from the lock cylinder. The best way to open the trunk in this instance is to drill out the center of the lock cylinder. Insert a screwdriver into the slot in the latch assembly and turn clockwise to open the trunk. Another way is to remove the rear seat cushion and seat back and with a long screwdriver, reach in and rotate the release slot on the latch assembly. This is rather difficult on a convertible as access is limited. On a hard top, you can crawl into the trunk with the rear seat back removed. Another option is visit your local locksmith.
