6 way adjustable seat motors

(1990 Cadillac DeVille)
in Richardson, TX on December 28, 2010
I have an 82 Coupe Deville and the 6 way adjustable seat motors activate when the tilt and forward switches are engaged but the seats don't move. This just suddenly started at the same time on both sides. Does anyone know what may cause this?

Autozone have some popular workshop manuals for free on line once you register (for free) on their website http://bit.ly/autozone_repair_info, look for a wiring diagram and perhaps diagnostic trouble shooting chart to do power (Voltage) and Ohm readings on the seat switch.

Most power seat problems are due to wires being chaffed or pinched in the mechanism,, need to disconnect the power wire connection, undo the bolts
remove the seat or just tilt up and inspect wiring,
you can make jumper wires so you can test each motor,
there are almost always more than one motor,
sometimes 3 or 4 or 5 or 6,,
troubleshoot troubleshoot troubleshoot
