Your 1991 Dakota should have Throttle Body Injection (Injectors on the Throttle Body). These injectors, over time and age may leak at the O-rings. There are (2) O-rings per injector. With the engine idling and the Aircleaner off, Carefully, (stay away from moving parts, fans etc) look down the throttle body with a flashlight. You should see a fuel spray from the injectors. If you see excessive dripping, that is an indication of the O-rings leaking. Excessive fuel pressure can also be an issue. The system is designed to operate at approximately 14 PSI. If you replace the injectors and / or O-rings, make sure the O-rings are seated on the injector and are lubricated with engine oil before pressing into place.
