Just changed this tranny to turbo 400. Overfilled tranny and now tranny won't shift out of first. No fluid shown in modulater valve. Any suggestions would be helpful.

The th4oo was a good used tranny out of a friend's 85 olds. Did'nt see a detent cable or kickdown cable so I assume the passing gear runs off the modulator valve. Only one wiring hook up and I assume that is for the back up light.Am leaning toward the governor or maybe something stuck in the modulator valve body.Probably will be pulling the valve body tonight and the governor and mod.valve with it.

Do you have anything hooked up to that one switch?? IF so, remove it and try it. That is for the detent or passing gear, It's electronic!!!!! There is supposed to be a sender switch at the carb linkage to activate passing gear... Possible gov stuck or valve body issue but if it was working in the other car.... should be ok now!... Just saying....
