Was a little pricey for the tail light bulb replacement, and the price for the recommended spark plug replacement was really high, and a little early for this recommendation. He explained that it was because the spark plugs are really hard to get to and would require 3 hours of labor.

Adam, It was not clear to me that the breaks might squeak if I did not replace the rear rotors of the breaks did the fronts but only the pads in back - so when I back up the breaks squeak when cold. If that was clear I would have done the rears too.

I apologize for not being clear. Most cars will squeak slightly when backing up cold in the morning, so new rotors may not even address that issue. Especially if left outside overnight(even on brand new cars)

Had diagnostic work done. They did not clear the error codes in my vehicle. I had to drive home in limp mode. I bought a diagnostic tool on line and cleared codes myself the next day. Pretty Lame.

You declined all repairs, and we left the codes in for the next shop to see so they didn't have a freshly reset computer with no stored history. I would have reset the codes if you came back and asked me to. Limp mode will reset its self after turning off and back on engine, so codes should not have to be reset as they will become "Stored" codes if the problem isn't a current issue on the next drive cycle. I apologize if this was not what you expected.

My engine continues to smoke and my idle is still very low and it cuts off. This is after spending 7,000 dollars with them. The two times that I picked it up after being serviced it clunked out after about a block.

I would start with an evacuation and recharge of the refrigerant. Or hook up pressure gauges and check for pressure hard to know an AC problem without readings. Does the compressor turn on?

This sounds a lot like an Alternator problem. I would have the AC voltage output checked. AC Voltage can cause electrical demons.

stevieray1: The way an Alternator works is it generates AC voltage then the diodes change that to DC voltage. An alternator with diode problems will leak AC voltage into the vehicles electrical system. This is a common misdiagnosis on a lot of electrical problems resulting in 1000's of dollars in repairs to correct Electrical problems. I would still check the AC voltage output and the overall charging health of the alternator. Anything more then 0.05v is too much. I normally see 0.5v or higher when we are running into similar issues in my shop. Also check the DC voltage for sure, that should be 13.5-14.5v anything more then that could also cause a similar problem.
