started on freeway loss of power. then at stoplight when I gave it gas died. Wouldn't restart unless foot to the floor and then was ruff. I have been thru ignition system all new parts and reset to TDC. It started drove a mile shut it off didn't restart had to tow it home. it smells flooded. Pulled plugs all black. Now what? HELP!!!

I've got spark but its not bright white its more pinkish. how can I be sure its hot enuf ? The modulator or whatever the thing inside the distributor is tested ok . I'm realy getting frustrated .

It maybe a good idea to check you timing set, as some of these engine had crappy fiber timing gears that strip off over time, and some had chains, if all else checks out ok, check timing gears/chain..Do a compression check first..

first of all I'd like to thank everyone for the responses which led me to discovering that inside of my distributor the Hall effect switch was bad.
