1994 Volkswagen Golf Question: Won't start

Question

Visitor, Hillsborough, NH, May 26, 2010, 16:41

My car wont start. What could the problem be? It tries to start but just won't. Turns over, starter engages, and all that good stuff. I cleaned my battery, post, and terminals and made sure all hoses were fine and they were. What could be causing it.

Could be an ignition or fuel problem. Check the fuel pressure and injector operation and see if your getting spark to the plugs.

Check the voltage coming off your alturnator. it should either go up from 12 volt or just shoot up to 14. I had a very similar issue. Also you will prob need to reset your anti-theft, so let the system drain by removing the negative lead for more than 20 min. Then even further, you are having the same issue and your anti-theft is over acting and your car randomly will shut off like mine. If this is the case you may want to look into by passing the anti theft. I am in process of figuring this out. I really don't think anyone will want to steal my tape deck so I'm not too concerned with just cutting the stupid thing out. I have had to reset the system tooo many times and I just want to drive the thing. LOL. Good luck. Let me know if you have anything else going on. peace
