Vehicle Application: 2000 Chevrolet Impala 3.4L, Vin E Customer Concern: The battery was replaced. Now the vehicle does not start and the security light flashes. Tests/Procedures: 1. Relearn the theft system. Turn the key to the crank position, then release to run and let the car sit for 11 minutes with the key on. 2. After 11 minutes, turn the key all the way off and wait 15 seconds (be sure that the key is turned off). 3. Then turn the key to crank again and let it back to run and do another 11-minute wait. 4. This procedure needs to be repeated 3-4 times before the engine will start again. Potential Causes: Theft System Relearn

I know of no way to disable the anti-theft system on a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. The computer systems are to sophisticated to simply by-pass or disable it. The most common cause for theft system problems is a faulty ignition lock cylinder. If the security light is on steady or flashing the security system will need to be diagnosed and repaired as necessary.
