Car is low on gas. When I went out to start it, it wouldn't start. Security light came on and then it wouldn't start. It's making a weird sound when it's trying to turn over, not the clicking sound that's associated with starter

Had similar problem on 1998 Olds Shillouette.I found the connector under the drivers side sliding door was full of water and corroded.
The solution was to buy a butt connector kit at any Auto parts store.Remove connector from body of vehicle.Cut one wire at a time and butt splice it to the corresponding wire on other connector.
Started right up.More power and runs great now !
