at the minute I can't think of the part that has gone out and the repair is approximately $280.00 you can get it in gear and drive it by removing that little roundish button on the right side of the deck where the sifter is.
Take a very small tipped screw driver and stick it straight down in that hole and you will feel a lever push that down and then you will be able to depress the shifter button and and it will go into gear.
You will have to do this everytime you want to drive but it will not hurt the transmission and will allow you time to the save the money for the repair and if I am not mistaken you can only get the part from the dealer.
They will also confirm it will not hurt to drive like this.
our 87 GL 5speed had one set of springs from the clutch disc ?fall? out & lodge between the disc and pressure plat so that the clutch would not release.
I had to pull motor to replace the clutch disc.
I did the plate disc and throwout bearing as well though the AutoZone kit I got did NOT have the nylon ?pin? that helps retract the release / throwout bearing . . . so time may tell . .
