1999 Ford Escort Question: With no owners manual how do I determine if my 1999 Ford Escort is SOHC or DOHC?

 Rookie

Among other things I need to replace the muffler or can I just repair it? Also am replacing the PCV valve.

     Master

    Emissions label underhood , or bring "VIN"# to dealer and have parts dept. look it up. OR you MAY see big letters on the valve cover "DOHC".
