BMW E46s are notorious for eating through Window Regulators. The repair can be done by an amateur mechanic, but there are issues. I did it myself a few times and pretty much gave up when the new regulator quit working. I took my car to Winslow and bit the bullet to pay for an OEM regulator, etc... It turned out the regulator wasn't the only problem, the window guide was bent and that this was going to break every regulator I put in. Winslow is actually pretty friendly to do-it-yourself home mechanics and always gives me a 10% discount on parts because I'm in the military.

Bottom line: The window works like it should. I'm not going to say it was cheap, because it wasn't, but I would never have figured out the window guide was the problem and the forums barely mention the issue. Several months later and it still works, plus it has a 2 year warranty. The only reason I don't "Highly Recommend" is that labor costs are high, at least in my opinion.
