2000 Volkswagen Passat Q&A
2000 Volkswagen Passat Question: Windows, Sunroof, interior lights, Anti-Theft not working.
I bought the car this way and noone can figure out what the heck is wrong with it! it has been totaled, who ever owned it before had to replace the driver door and fender. Well bc they replaced the door and lost the alarm key they had to bypass the ignition switch...im guessing they hotwired it to the starter? well the windows sunroof interior lights and anti theft has never worked since i bought the car 5 months ago and then about a week ago, everything started working(key was turning over, windows, sunroof, interior lights and alarm were all working). it worked for about two days and then it quit again. Then my battery died (for like the millionth time) and the radio locked itself..then about 2 days later it unlocked itself...idk wat the heck the problem is but i would juss really like to be able to use the windows sunroof and alarm(b/c of the neighborhood i live in) CAN SOMEONE PLZ HELP!!! p.s. ive checked all the fuses and had diagnostics checked......i think it may b the push start button thats straight wired but not for sure! - Tiffany123089
OK too fix your problem look up "wet ccm" the factory wires are coated with a fabric where the sealed the wires together. so basically the wire gets wet holds water then corrodes like a battery terminal but you wont see it just looking a wire unwrap any wires the could have gotten wet but to get there you need to pull up your carpets a check for water on drivers side under your feet sits comfort control module, and that is responsible for all your problems probably soaking wet lots of youtube videos on this cause by blockage of moon roof drains or more likely where your battery is is full of shit leaves etc. clean them out because your drain is under battery and brake cylinder. also videos on replacing "Cabin Air Filter" common water leak. that is your fix plus the fix for the water ingress. - coffman
