The window regulator manages the power window motor's connection to the actual up-and-down action of the window. It's often a cable threaded through a metal superstructure. If the window is down and won't come back up, you probably will have to replace the entire window regulator--I've had the problem in a Nissan and couldn't fix what was wrong with the regulator. Had to get a whole new one.

Your window regulator has failed in a very typical fashion.
Other than replacement window regulators are not repairable.Just specify which door it is for and whether it is manual or power windows.

I had the same problem, the part cost me approx 40.00 bucks. not a real big issue...the regulator is part of the hole mechinism the brings the wondow back up. i replaced mine by myself in about an hour...Its a hassel, but not to big of a problem and its cheap to fix.

I just got mine fixed at VW dealership and they charged me $500!!!! Go to a private dealer. Parts are expensive unfortunately.
