1997 Pontiac Bonneville Q&A
1997 Pontiac Bonneville Question: will not turn over, just clicks
Will the car start with jumper cables? If so the battery may still be bad. Charge the battery, and have the battery hydrometer tested and high rate discharge tested. A battery can have good voltage but not withstand load. Most likely to be the battery, check that the connections are clean and secure, look at the battery cable ground cable and power wire to the starter, second possible problem could be a bad starter. - patrick mannion

I had to have the ignition lock cylinder replaced (which involved getting my local Chevy dealer to make me a new key to fit the new lock). There was a design flaw where the wires were being rubbed raw inside the cylinder. Starts like a dream, now. I can't tell you how much money I spent to figure this out (new batteries, battery connections, starter, etc.)!! - cabbageking
