Question: Will not start right away however once started it won't stop running after

turning the engine off. I have to disconnect the battery but when I try to connect the negative cable it gave a big spark. I'm hesitant to connect it again. What should I do?

    Disconnecting the battery cable with the engine running can damage the alternator and other electronic components. I'm no sure by your description if the starter is shorted out and staying engaged or if the ignition switch electrical portion is the problem. There is a company that independent auto repair shops get their information from, this same information is available inexpensively for people that work on their own cars.. The information is year make and model specific, covering repair procedures, torque specifications, fluid capacities and specifications, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect....
