Question: Will my engine light come on if starter is bad

 Rookie

Light just came on. Taken to mechanic and I wanted to make sure the starter can cause the engine light to come on

    When cel comes on it will set code(s), can see if any code is related to existing code(s). I have not heard of this but heck, I am wrong sometimes and can learn new tricks.

    No, a starter cannot cause a check engine light. And a starter doesn't do much when the car is runnig, which is when you would look for your check engine to be active.
