2002 Mini Cooper S Question: Will I save gas by dis-connecting the super-charger?

The car gets about 25 mpg around time and has power to spare. I figure that dis-connecting the super-charger will improve gas mileage. But will it hurt the engine in any way?

Your engine is specifically designed to use a supercharger, and you cannot simply disconnect it and see mpg performance go up.

I think that if you disable the supercharger, the car will not run.

Agree with Matt. You can't disconnect the super charger the engine and engine controls are designed to utilize the super charger.
