2002 Buick Century Question: will changing of battery clear the incomplete monitors

 Rookie

i jus recently changed the battery out of my 2002 buick and wanted to see if i changed the battery will it clear any code or monitors on the car. i was told that i have to a drive cycle is that true???

    you will need a drive cycle. it will set the clear the monitors that will require a drive cycle.

    is your light on? if it is, then you need to record the code number for a diag or the code may return on the drive cycle and additional diags will be necessary.

    Chevrolet has in their engine computer known as a PROM chip. It stores information and codes from the vehicle. The only way is to reset with a scanner.
