oil light came on I put in 3 quarts of oil it still did not go off,overdue for an oil change,i went to have the oil change and the light did not go off the service tech said in time it will eventually go but it has not happen yet.

MasterThat is a low oil pressure warning. Changing the oil will have no effect on this unless the oil was so old it turned into water. You need to have the oil pressure checked. It may just be the pressure sending unit is bad. But if in fact the pressure is low or nonexistent you very well may be causing grave internal engine damage by running the engine.
