2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Question: Why is there a clunking noise coming from the front when I accelerate in drive?

The clunking noise happens only when accerating in drive only. When I take my foot off the gas pedal, the noise stops. And I can't hear the noise when going in reverse. The noise sounds like medal hitting medal.

It could be many things, unfortunately and without hearing the noise first hand or being able to do some basic diagnostic tests or be able to drive the car, its hard to say what the source of the noise may be. Could be a worn suspension bushing, the exhaust hitting something or engine movement due to a worn engine mount, too many things to guess at without being able to hear the noise first hand.
