1991 Nissan Pathfinder Question: Why is my torque converter so loud?

how do you know it is the torque converter??is it a rumble or a whine?? either way, it does not ever go away. it stays until repaired.
there are valves, particularly a pressure valve, that is common for making noise from low fluid or sticking. take it to a trans shop and let them check it for you and give you a bid. a thousand miles is a long time to ignore a problem. be careful that you dont do permanent damage to the trans and get it checked asap.

It is a whine. At about 3500 to 4000 rpm's something sounds like a belt slipping,do you think that noise could be comming from the transmission also? Thanks for the reply.

not if it goes away. that kind of noise stays. get it checked at a shop to verify. it may be something else that is simple and less involved than a trans issue.
