P0172 Fuel System Too Rich (Bank 1)Possible Causes Setting Conditions Base engine "mechanical" fault affecting one or more cylinders Check for air leaks in the exhaust manifold and in the exhaust pipes EVAP system component has failed or canister fuel saturated Fuel control sensor is out of calibration (e.g., ECT, IAT or MAF) Fuel delivery system supplying too much fuel during cruise or idle periods (e.g., faulty fuel pump, or faulty pressure regulator) Fuel injector(s) is leaking or stuck partially open (one or more) HO2S or AFS has failed (it may be contaminated with fuel, silicone or water) DTC P0100, P0101, P0105, P0110, P0115, P0120, P0121, P0130, P0133, P0134, P0135, P0136, P0141, P0151, P0156, P0161, P0300, P0301-P0308, P0440, P0500 and P0505 not set; engine running in Closed Loop, ECT signal more than 158ºF, vehicle driven at a constant speed of less than 62 mph at an engine speed over 1,500 rpm, and the PCM detected the rich fuel trim correction value was over the "rich" limit. This code sets in 2 Trip(s). This code will turn on the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp)

i installed an aftermarket cold air intake when my cel came on and i pulled the code po172...any ideas as to why it showed? dont feel anything wrong with the truck though...

is the mass air flow connected?? make sure it is plugged in and working. I never recommend these units as it alters the factory routings which makes a difference in computer operations. Roy
