Question: Why is my 2000 lincoln ls rpms rise pass 4 but will not accelerate?

 Rookie

A couple days prior to that I heard whining noise when car 1st start then when I drive to repair shop and engine is warm noise is not heard. Today had to stop and cut car off several times to get to repair shop due to rpms rising and car not accelerating. Never had that problem before. No check engine light on, temp is normal also.

    Sounds like the fluid level is your transmission is low causing it to slip. Check the transmission fluid level and its condition. The more you drive it the more damage your going to do so if its already at the shop ask them to diagnose it for you and advise you accordingly.
