Recently we were traveling on the city streets(35-40 m.p.h.)and our 95 Prizm began popping out of gear while in 3rd or 4th gear. It doesn't happen all the time but has happened to both of us on different occasions, and while we are accelerating not decelerating. Is this a synchro issue or could this be a shifter bushing? Further more does a cabled manual transmission even have shifter bushings? Thanks for any and all help in advance.

1995 Geo Prizm Question: Why does our Geo suddenly pop out of gear in 3rd and 4th gear?

There are bushings at each end of the shifter cable to dampen vibration at the shift lever. Popping out of 3/4 could be a linkage cable issue not allowing the selector fork to fully slide the gear sliding hub onto the selected gear but it is most likely to be a problem with the syncho hub its self not having enough pressure to keep the gear and hub engaged.
