why does my wiper over extend past the door? on 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe

And when it gets shut off it stops in the middle of the window. I can also move it by hand when it is off.

Follow these steps exactly! Turn key on, next turn wiper on,,,,now turn wiper off and let it stop,, turn key off and put wiper in the normal parked position,, now tighten the 'loose' retainer nut, under the plastic cover, at the base of the wiper arm. Test wiper operation. Adjust if needed.

You will have to pop up that little plastic cover, with a finger nail or small screwdriver, that is on the wiper arm where it goes onto the shaft at the cowl to see this nut that i am talking about!! Let us know what you find.

Check the splines on the wiper arm. If that is ok the link bush on the motor to wiper spindle is worn or loose. Do both wiper arms move in unison

Go to youtube, enter how to fix fix a wiper arm on a Tahoe, and check out the video on this fix!! Should take care of your problem. Can not give any better advice! There is none if YOU want to fix this, if not take it to a repair shop and have them reposition and tighten up the wiper arm!
