Why does my truck hesitate to accelerate sometimes? on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500

I did a partial tune up changing all but the wires, even changed distributor cap. My air intake housing has gaps, most of them I covered with duck tape. It sarts fine, and for the most part runs fine, but it acts like it wants to stall out and doesnt want to accelerate. Why?

May be bad intake manifold gaskets(known issue) try using a can of carb cleaner, and spraying along both sides of intake where it bolts to heads while engine is running and listen for change in idle. How much oil is it using? Or when changing plugs, are there any plugs that are worse than others?one last thing.... Check over any vacuum lines for cracks or disconnected hoses.good luck
