Question: why does my car stay running after i disconnect the battery

it seems to only happen when it rains some times it also will not go into reverse

    if you are only disconnecting the battery cable at the positive/red side the vehicle will continue to run off of the alternator.

    thanks i disconnect both of the cables and it still stay on
